Goals I’m here for:
1) See how passionate God is for his own glory;
2) Share God’s zeal for his glory, through the Holy Spirit;
3) Discover that the passion for the glory of God produces sacrificed love;
4) Let ourselves be carried away by this love to perform global missions.
Differences in this preaching from the last time he came
1) The discovery of gospel growth in the Southern Hemisphere (Africa, Asia, and South America) and the decline of Christians in Europe and, in some way, in the US. But it’s not the first time More Christian workers in Brazil go on transcultural missions than in Britain or Canada. Don’t consider yourself a nation I should only receive. You, Brazil, must send;
2) Clarity on how to nail certain points;
3) Growth of the gospel of prosperity;
4) Growth of Islam.
God does not passively ask you to glorify your name, He is already doing so, and I invite you to participate, yet in today’s global conditions, this will require martyrs, the gospel of prosperity will not have the sacrificial courage (martyr) to do the work of global missions.
Heavenly Father, hallowed be thy name;
I suppose when Jesus says that we have to ask for something, we must desire it; if we want to pray that God’s name will be sanctified, we must desire it, to be passionate about it. The first request we must desire, desire, and pray is that the name of God be sanctified. Is that praying? Father, why in me what do I need to sanctify your name and not only in me, but also in my family and my denomination?
I saw this first prayer more as a declaration of worship (Father, your name is holy), than as a request. Is it imperative in the third person?(we don’t have that in Portuguese), so the first request, in Greek, would be something like praise God for being holy, but also asking God to make this happen.
I have also seen two blocks of petitions, one in relation to God and one in relation to our neighbour and ourselves. While this is true, today I notice that all other queries (v. 10-13) serve the first order.
The first evidence is that it asks for something to happen in our hearts regarding the name of God, while the other requests do not explicitly call a response from the heart, for example: “Come thy kingdom”. Sanctifying the name of God means separating his name as a saint, placing his name in a single class. Is there no one like God infinite in courage? His holiness is his divine transcendence, unique and glorious. God’s holiness is so infinitely precious that everything else is like nothing. Thus, in the first petition, we prayed: “Father, such glorious, important, beautiful and precious appointment to me. , because throughout the day, other things tried to occupy this place. “Only the first request deals with this form of the heart.
Two other discoveries are that it seems obvious to me that Jesus would put the great goal first and that the Name of God is something more personal than His Kingdom or His Will.
So all other requests are related to that. God wants his kingdom to come so that his name may be sanctified. The purpose of the universe is to sanctify the name of God. Your kingdom is coming for this. Your will is made for it. Humans are supported, forgiven and protected by it. And for the main purpose, I mean something that is not a path to another purpose. That’s the ultimate goal. You have to decide what the main purpose of all things is and align your life with that.
The sanctification of God’s name is the ultimate goal!It’s not a way to achieve another goal. We must value God in everything. All our activities must be means or expressions of that. My prayer for you is that you make the sanctification of God’s name the primary purpose of your life.
God tells us to pray this way. You say, “Ask me to help you appreciate me. “God is fully committed to sanctifying his name. And this has to do with missions, because in the same way we must pray that the Lord of the future will send more workers, even though he knows that we need workers.
Therefore, my prayer is that God will produce a commitment in his heart for the sanctification of his name among nations. Don’t choose between the neighborhood and the nations. Love them both.
And I will make known my holy name among my people of Israel, and I will never again tarnish my holy name; and the heathen will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel (Ezekiel 39:7).
