Throughout the world there are many people who call themselves Christians, in fact, if we asked the people of our communities if they are Christians, many of them would respond quickly with a resounding yes; However, if we ask these same people if they are Christians they are disciples of Jesus Christ, many of them would probably not respond so quickly, and the most honest should admit that they are not actually disciples of Jesus Christ.
This dichotomy is problematic. Although many people do not want to hear about this and many pastors do not preach it, there is no distinction between a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ. Christians are disciples. A disciple is someone who trusts in Christ and lives his life in accordance with that trust, following Christ and growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ (2P 3, 18). His call is clear 😕 If someone? Do you want to come after me, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me? (Mt 16:24). If we truly trust Christ, we will follow him, but if we do not follow him, it means that we do not trust him. In the same way, if we know the gospel, we will strive to walk worthy of the gospel (Phil. 1:27); if the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we will walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25); if we are united to Christ, we will bear fruit in Christ (Jn 15, 11-11); if we love Christ, we will obey Christ (John 14:15); If we are justified by faith and by faith alone, our faith will not remain inert, but will result in a life of faith, repentance, and good works, which Christ has prepared in advance for us to walk. They (Ephesians 2 8-10; James 2, 14-26).
- In the Great Commission.
- Jesus calls us to make disciples of all nations.
- His call to make disciples includes not only evangelization and seeing the lost born again by the Holy Spirit and joining Christ through grace only through faith.
- But also includes work to ensure that those who are united with Christ receive disciples in Christ.
- In many ways.
- This is where the church has not been faithful.
- Both in our local churches and in the missionary field around the world.
- We have achieved many converts and have achieved many.
- Busy workers in the church.
- But we have not been so faithful in the great task of making disciples.
- We.
- Who have been made disciples by the sovereign grace of God.
- Are called to go and make disciples in our homes.
- Our churches.
- Our communities.
- And all nations.
- By the grace of God and by the power of God’s gospel.
- And all for the glory of God.
