Christ us to make disciples

What is a disciple of Christ? In the article “Christ Commands Us to Make Disciples,” Dave Eby states that:

The translated Greek word disciple means apprentice. A disciple is an apprentice of the Lord Jesus; an apprentice is a listener and a practitioner. The Great Commission is an order to bring people to Christ to listen, learn and practice. A disciple of Jesus becomes his apprentice forever.

Among the things that disciples must continually learn from Christ are:

Give up yourself and follow Jesus with singular fidelity (Luke 9:23-26; 14:26).

He hates sin and loves holiness

Serve and love the Church of Christ with all its imperfections.

Love the lost and the nations and have a passion for the advancement of the gospel.

? Or rather, the Gospel of Christ with good works of love, justice and mercy (Titus 2. 10, 12, 14).

Live by faith in Christ and the Gospel (Romans 1:17)

Rejoice that the humanly inaccessible demands of a pure conscience, a new heart, and a new power to live a holy life have been acquired and provided only by Christ, only by grace, and received only by faith. justification and sanctification are all free gifts.

Glory alone to the Cross and the Gospel and abandons all pride and personal realization (Philippians 3:3-9).

Wait in Christ for the glory and grace to come, a hope that is sustained in the midst of the many afflictions of this short journey through the “valley of the shadow of death. “
