Have you ever stopped to reflect on the 9 characteristics expressed in Galatians 5, called the fruit of the Spirit?”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, kindness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control. (Gal 5: 22. 23)

Goodness
Paul combines kindness and kindness. And, of course, they have a lot in common. Above all, they have an element of generosity in common. Jesus told the story of a man who owned a vineyard and went to hire people to work there. He would arrive at different times, and at the end of the day, when he was paying his salary, he was paying people who started the full-day salary at the beginning of the day and then those arriving at the end of the day would come. , who worked only an hour or two, and also paid them a full-day salary. Then the first workers thought it was very unfair and complained. And Jesus said to them, “You are jealous and jealous because I am generous. “the word Jesus used there is “good. ” In other words, good people don’t necessarily care about what’s right and fair, but they want to be generous and kind. That’s what Jesus seems to be saying.
With the right person, what you see is what you get. They’re all they seem to be. They are completely transparent, there is no shame, no pretension. Without representation They not only do it for appearances, but they do what they do simply because it is right and right, so goodness is a transparent quality. You can count on a good person because he does what he says and he is who he is.
Then let’s think of God as good first. African Christians have a saying that they like to use together in a type of song, which says: God is good all the time; God is good all the time. And, in fact, when we look at the Bible, it is one of the strongest statements found especially in the Old Testament and psalms: “Thank the Lord, for he is good. “Psalm 107: 1 Psalm 119: 68:?Are you good and do good ?. Therefore, even when bad things happen, we can trust that God will bring a good result, even through the evil things that human beings do; it is one of the mysteries of God’s sovereignty and providence. For example, Joseph said to his brethren, “What they meant for the evil they meant was evil; there’s no excuse for this. But did God want it for good, to save many lives? So God is good all the time.
Good people resist the temptation to go the easy way. They continue to do the right thing and the right thing, even when other options are available. For example, Psalm 15 describes the righteous person as someone who does the right thing and speaks the truth with his heart, who keeps his promise, even when it hurts. So God is good, people who know God are good, and of course Jesus, as Peter says in Acts 10, “went around doing good. ” And that not only meant that Jesus was kind, kind, and loving to others, which of course he was, but it also meant that he was determined to do the right thing, to do what God wanted him to do. He does so, despite the fact that his entire ministry has been attacked by temptations and invitations to choose the easy path. The devil tempted you to do that in your temptations. Pedro tried to make her take another path. His family asked him to come home and give up what he was doing. Pontius Pilate offered him a way out, even at the time of the cross. And yet, Jesus persistently refused to choose the simplest path, choosing instead to do what was right in his Father’s eyes and to do his Father’s will.
So this means that if God is good and those who know God seek to do good and Jesus himself gave us an example of doing good, then doing good is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us. ; It is not how we obtain God’s favor, it is certainly not how we obtain salvation, but it is the external work of God’s life and God’s Spirit in us. Paul is saying here that goodness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. And in this, he echoes the teaching of Jesus, because that is what Jesus said in Luke 6:43: “There is no good tree that bears bad fruit; nor a bad tree that bears good fruit. Each tree is known for its own fruits. Because figs are not gathered from thorns nor are grapes picked. The good man takes the good from the good treasure of the heart, and the bad takes the bad from the bad treasure; Why does the mouth say that the heart is full? So Jesus tells us that what we do shows what is in us; Or, we can say, it shows who is in us. And there is this source of goodness in the heart that flows from the Spirit of God, formed by Jesus himself so that we bear the fruit of goodness, being good in our thoughts, attitudes, words and actions, and doing good not as a foolish idealist. who annoys busy friends, but as benefactors, who are those who are determined to do good things.
Now, why such an emphasis? Because it reflects and reacts to the gospel of the cross and the dynamics of the cross. When Paul said in Romans 12:21, “Do not let yourself be invaded by evil, but overcome evil with good,” he describes exactly what God was then when God’s absolute goodness faced the absolute evil of what they did to Jesus on the cross, such an evil that God absorbed, endured, and won by the power of his love. Thus, when we respond to evil in the world with the positive fruit of the Spirit of goodness and goodness, we first live in the power of the cross and also anticipate this ultimate victory of God’s goodness over all the evils of the universe. of the Holy Ghost will produce the fruit of the Spirit and cultivate it in our daily lives, especially in the public world of work and service. Do the right thing, do the right thing. This produces the fruit of the Spirit in goodness.
