Chairs Campos? The wonder of the unit

In this preaching, Sillas Campos spoke of “The great value of unity: The importance of seeking unity based on sound doctrine”, emphasizing 5 points: (1) Christian unity is not a mere gathering of evangelicals, (2) Christian unity is not an option, (3) Christian unity strengthens us, (4) unity gives us credibility and (5) Christian unity is an irreversible reality.

Sillas Campos began his preaching with the illustration of this video:

  • Unfortunately.
  • Many pastors and members of churches in this country do not have a vision that seeks unity.
  • Yet it was Christ’s prayer: that they may all be one; And as thou art.
  • O Father.
  • In me and in thee.
  • May they also be in us; to make the world think you sent me?(v.
  • 21).

1) Christian unity is not a mere gathering of evangelicals, based on exaggerated doctrinal tolerance or evangelical syncretism, but the unity of the disciples, of those who believe in Christ Jesus (v. 6). This text cannot be used as an excuse for evangelical syncretism, for Jesus affirms a doctrinal unity: the custody of the word (v. 6) and holiness in the word (v. 17). Truth is the basis of Christian joy and unity, so the first enemy of Christian unity is syncretism.

Jeremiah Burrough, a reformer, was already concerned about the lack of unity at the time and raised six important points:

2) Christian unity is not an option, but it is the will of Christ. Whoever lives in his small group does not walk according to the will of Christ.

3) Christian unity strengthens us. Together we are stronger (Pr 30:27). Your church needs other churches. Its name needs other denominations. Together we plunder hell.

4) Unity gives us credibility (then the world will think you sent me?V. 21).

5) Christian unity is an irreversible reality. The growth of Christ’s Church is an irreversible reality, because it is He who builds his Church (the Kingdom is like a mustard seed) and the growth of the unity of Christ’s body is an irreversible truth, because it is Christ Himself. who prays.

The heart of fanaticism is the tendency to think what? The church is the ultimate expression of the Church of Christ in the world. Get out of Elijah’s syndrome: “I’m the most jealous and there’s no one but me. “God’s answer to this kind of thought is: I have stayed seven thousand; Aren’t you the only one?

The harmony of diversity is something that only Christ and the Gospel can bring, let us remember that although different, we are subject to the same Master and Mestre.
