Six inevitable events have occurred in our ministries
The problem is that if the help they receive is not an obvious help from the gospel, it will be something that usually ends up harming them and all those with whom they live. The problem in churches is that when people try to get help, what do they get fall into six particular categories.
Formalism: this is where the gospel comes down to participation in scheduled church meetings and ministries. People are made to believe that their faith is defined by a series of meetings and events. Low frequency means lack of faith and good participation means strong So when the struggles come, the formalists’ response is to go to more meetings and make more efforts.
Legalism: This is where the gospel comes down to carefully keeping the rules. If a problem arises, the given advice is a set of rules to follow, and as long as people do, they will feel they are making progress.
Mysticism: This is where the gospel comes down to emotional/spiritual experiences. People base their faith on how they feel. So if you feel bad, then the key is to feel the power of the Holy Ghost to be better again. They begin to look for experiences and their relationship with God is measured only by how they feel.
Activism: This is where the gospel comes down to participation in Christian causes, people feel good about their lives through good deeds, but that’s not enough to maintain a balanced life.
Biblicism: Is this where the Gospel comes down to the realm of biblical and Christian theology? All knowledge and no application. Just read more verses and everything will be fine!
Psychologism: This is where the gospel comes down to healing emotional needs. Christ is not my savior; He’s my therapist. ” It exists to make us feel better about ourselves. “
Socialism: This is where the Gospel comes down to communion with the body of Christ, I know in community and this will help you alleviate your problems.
