Awakening is a sovereign work of Dios. La does not produce a revival; she looks for him and paves his way. The church does not plan to wake up; she prays for him and awaits his arrival. Awakening is not a style of worship, nor is it simply the presence of spiritual gifts or manifestations of miracles. Psalm 85 deals with this important issue in an enlightening way. The Psalmist asks, “Will you not resurrect us so that your people may rejoice in you?”(Salt 85,6). Dr. Augustus Nicodemus, in a recent message preached in our church, offered us four reflections on the verse in question.
Awakening is God’s work in the life of his people, awakening does not happen in the world, but in the church, it is an unusual intervention of God in the life of his people, bringing repentance from sin, returning to the Word, thirst for holiness, fervent worship, and abundant life. Awakening begins in the church and spreads all over the world. Judgment begins in the house of God. First, the church turns to God, then call the world to repentance and turn to God.
- 2.
- Revival is an exclusive work of God.
- The children of Kora cried out to God for a revival.
- They understood that only God could bring a time of restoration to the beaten nation of Israel.
- No human effort can produce the wind of the Spirit.
- No church or council can generate this power of revival in the church.
- This power does not come from the church; comes from God.
- It does not come from man; emanates from Espíritu.
- No that comes from the earth; is poured out of heaven.
- Those who confuse renewal with emotionality are working on error.
- Those who interpret the many new features of the faith market.
- Plagued by doctrines outside the scriptures.
- Are signs of revival.
- There is no genuine work of the Spirit contrary to God’s revealed truth.
- The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth and guides the church to the truth.
- There has never been a spiritual awakening.
- Produced by the Spirit of God.
- Among heterodox sects.
- Because God does not act against Himself and is not incompatible with his own Word.
3. Revival is an extraordinary work of God. The revival is not only a work of God, but an extraordinary work. It is an unusual manifestation of God in the lives of his people and through his people. God can do more on a day of wakefulness than we do in a full year of force-based carnal activity. When we look at the revivals in the days of kings Hezekiah and Josiah, we see how people turned to God and there was joy and salvation. As we contemplate the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost in Jerusalem, we see Peter’s message, like an arrow, reaching hearts and nearly three thousand people joined the church. When we studied the great English revival of the 18th century with John Wesley and George Whitefield, we discovered that the gospel touched an entire nation. The same thing happened in the United States in the 19th century and in South Korea in the 20th century. Revival is an unusual and extraordinary work of God and we urgently need to seek this powerful visit of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church today.
4. Awakening is a repeated work of God in history. It is important to understand that Pentecost is a decisive step in the history of the Church. It was rumored that the Holy Spirit was with the church forever and this fact is unique and irreplaceable. However, many times and in many places, God has visited his people with new outcasts of the Spirit, restoring his church, blowing a breath of life upon it, and repeatedly lifting them from the valley of drought. to the Lord and pray with fervor and perseverance like the Psalmist: “Perhaps you will not resurrect us, that your people may rejoice in you?Awakening is a promise from God and a necessity for the church.
It is time to shout to the Lord until he comes and restores our opportunity!
