Verse of the day: Isn’t it my house with God?For he has established with me an eternal covenant, in all well defined and sure, will not all my salvation and hope prosper me?(2 Samuel 23. 5)
This verse is not only a promise, it is also a set of promises, a box of pearls. The covenant is the ark that contains all the promises.
These are David’s last words, but they may be my words today
In this verse we have a whisper: things do not happen or do not happen to me as I wish; there are trials, sins and worries that harden my pillow. In this verse we have a comfort: “He has established an eternal covenant with me. “The Lord gave himself to me and sealed this covenant with the blood of Jesus. I am united with my God; And he, I.
This verse emphasizes security, for the covenant is eternal, well defined, and secure. There is nothing to fear over time, the risk of forgetting one aspect of the alliance or the natural uncertainty of things. The covenant is a fundamental stone on which to build for life or death.
David was satisfied; There was no longer a lack of joy or salvation. David was free and enjoyed. The divine covenant is all that man can desire.
My soul, turn today to your Lord Jesus, whom God has offered as an alliance for his people; receive it to be entirely yours.
