Verse of the Day: Its fruit is sweet to my palate (Song of Songs 2. 3)
In the Scriptures, faith is referred to as a virtue that involves all the senses. It is a vision: “Look at me and be saved?” (Isaiah 45:22). It is listening: “Listen, and will your soul live?” (Isaiah 55: 3). It’s a sense of smell 😕 Do all your clothes smell of myrrh, aloe, and cassia? (Psalms 45. 8); Sweet is the aroma of your ointments, how does your name spread? (Song of Songs 1. 3). It is a spiritual touch. By this faith, the woman came from behind and touched the hem of Christ’s robe, and by this faith we felt the good word of life. Faith is also the taste of the spirit: “How sweet are your words to my taste! More than honey in my mouth? (Psalm 119,103). Jesus said: “If you don’t eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, don’t you have life in yourself? (John 6. 53). This taste is faith in one of its most sublime operations. Listening is one of the first realizations of faith. We hear God’s voice not only with the physical ear, but also with the spiritual ear. We hear it as the Word of God, believing that it really is the Word of God. It is hearing with faith. Then our mind considers the truth that has been presented to us; it means that we understand the truth heard, we understand its meaning. It is the vision of faith. Then we discover its preciousness; we admire it and realize how pleasant it smells. It is the smell of faith. Then we appropriate the mercies prepared for us in Christ. It’s faith in your touch. Therefore, do you follow the joys? peace, delight and communion? it’s faith in your taste All of these leaps of faith are saviors. Hearing in the soul the voice of Christ as the very voice of God will save us. What gives us true joy is the aspect of faith that Christ is received by us and has made us the food of our souls, through an inner and spiritual understanding of his sweetness and preciousness. When we exercise this aspect of faith, we sit with great pleasure in the shadow of Christ and discover that his fruit is sweet to our palate.
