Happy to rent

Verse of the day: Praise the peoples, O God, all peoples praise you (Psalm 67,3, 5).

Why does God command us to praise Him?

C. S. Lewis:

Just as men spontaneously praise everything they cherish, they spontaneously urge us to join them in this praise: “Isn’t she charming?Don’t you think it’s beautiful?”

Psalmists, telling everyone to praise God, do what all men do when they talk about what they cherish. My greatest and most general difficulty in praise of God depended on my absurd denial, as to what is extremely precious, what delights us, what we want. I really can’t stop doing it, especially as we appreciate it.

I think we are pleased to praise what we love because praise not only expresses, but also complements pleasure; is its designated consumption. It is not out of praise that those who love each other continue to tell the thee how beautiful they are; pleasure is incomplete until expressed.

Here’s the solution! We praise what we cherish because pleasure is incomplete until it is expressed in praise. If we could not talk about what we value, celebrate what we love, and praise what we admire, our joy could not be complete.

So if God loves us enough to complete our joy, should He not only give himself, but also receive praise from our hearts? Not because he needs to strengthen a weakness in himself or to make up for a deficiency, but because he loves us. and seeks the fullness of our joy, which can only be found by knowing and praising the most magnificent of all beings.

If God is truly for us, he must be truly for himself!God is the only being in the whole universe for whom seeking his own praise is the supreme act of love. For him, self-exaltation is the greatest virtue. When he does all things, in praise of his glory, he preserves for us and offers us the only thing in the world that can satisfy our desires.

God is for us! And the foundation of this love is that God was, is now and always will be for himself.
