August 16th? Discover and confess sin

Verse of the day: He who hides his transgressions will never prosper; But he who confesses and leaves them will feel sorry for them (Proverbs 28:13).

In this verse we find the way of mercy for the guilty and repentant sinner, who must break the habit of covering up sin. Try to do this by lying, which denies sin; hypocrisy, which conceals it; by pride, which justifies it; and through resounding confessions, which seek to make small improvements to sin.

  • The sinner’s duty is to confess his sin and abandon him.
  • These two attitudes must go hand in hand.
  • Confession must be made sincerely to the Same Lord Jesus; must understand in itself a recognition of error.
  • A feeling of evil and hatred against error.
  • We cannot blame others.
  • Circumstances or natural weaknesses.
  • We must fully admit it and convince ourselves of the accusation.
  • There will be no mercy until this is done.

Furthermore, we must abandon sin. Recognizing our mistake, we must reject any present and future intention to remain there. We cannot live in rebellion and, at the same time, coexist with the Royal Majesty. One must abandon the habit of sin, as well as all places. companions, activities and books that can keep us coming back. It is not simply by confession or simply by a change in attitude, but by a connection between the two that we obtain forgiveness through faith in the blood of Christ.
