August 14th? Discipline doesn’t last forever

Verse of the day: That is why I will sadden David’s offspring; however, not forever (1 Kings 11. 39).

In the family of grace, there is a discipline, severe enough to consider the act of sin as bad and painful: Solomon, estranged from the Lord by his foreign wives, established other gods and wisely provoked the God of his fathers. For this reason ten parts of his kingdom separated and formed a rival state; It was a painful affliction for the house of David, an affliction that, by God’s hand, even fell on this dynasty as a result of ungodly conduct. he will discipline the best of his beloved servants if they stray from full obedience to his commandments. Perhaps, right now, this discipline is upon us. Let us humbly cry out: Lord, show me why you are in conflict with me.

  • What an encouraging expression this is: “Not forever?!The punishment of sin is eternal.
  • But the Lord’s discipline against sin in one of his children lasts for a short time.
  • Sickness.
  • Poverty and discouragement will disappear once they have reached the desired level.
  • “Let us remember that we are no longer under the law.
  • But under grace.
  • The rod of discipline can make us feel great pain.
  • But the sword will never make us die.
  • Our current affliction is destined to lead us to repentance.
  • Other than that we will be destroyed with the wicked.
