August 13th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: The cedars of Lebanon he planted (Psalm 104. 16).

The cedars of Lebanon are a symbol of the believer in the fact that they owe their planting entirely to the Lord himself. This is also true for all of God’s children. It was not planted by itself, nor by man, but by God. The mysterious hand of the Spirit of God introduced the living seed into a heart that he himself prepared to receive it. Every true heir of heaven has the great farmer as the one who planted him. Furthermore, the cedars of Lebanon do not depend on men for their watering. They stand firm on the sublime rock, without water by human skill; however, Heavenly Father provides for their needs. This is what happens to the believer who has learned to live by faith. It does not depend on men, not even on temporal things; instead, he only looks to the Lord, his God, waiting for a continual supply. The dew of heaven is its portion and the God of heaven is its source. Cedars owe nothing to man for their protection against stormy winds and storms. They are trees of God, protected and preserved only by Him, it is the same for the believer; It is not a greenhouse plant, immune to temptation, but remains firm even in the most exposed position. He has no shelter or protection except the immense wings of the Eternal God, who always cover the cedars he has planted.

  • Like cedars.
  • Believers are full of sap.
  • With enough vitality to stay green at all times.
  • Even during winter snow.
  • Finally.
  • The majestic and flourishing condition of cedars is manifested only for the praise of God’s glory.
  • The Lord Himself was everything to the cedars.
  • That is why David presents this charming truth in one of the psalms: “Praise be to the Lord?Fruit trees and all the cedars?” (Exit 148.
  • 7.
  • 9).
  • In the believer.
  • There is nothing that can magnify man.
  • The believer is planted.
  • Fed.
  • And protected by the Lord’s own hands.
  • Read all the glory.
