Oh, ah! All of you, who are thirsty, come to the waters; And you who have no money, come, buy, and eat; yes, come and buy wine and milk without money or price. Why do you spend money on what’s not bread and your sweat on what’s not satisfactory?Listen carefully, eat the good and you will enjoy good food. Tilt your ears and Come to me; Listen, and your soul will live; Why would I make with you a perpetual covenant, consisting of the faithful mercy promised to David?(Is 55. 1-3).
Coming is eating. To believe is to drink
- Jesus said unto them.
- I am the bread of life; What comes to me will never be hungry; And whoever believes in me will never be thirsty?(Jo 6:35).
One comment on John 6. 35 😕 Jesus said unto them, Indeed, I say unto you, that if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and do not drink his blood, do you have no life in yourselves?(Jo 6:53).
“On the last day, on the great day of the feast, Jesus stood up and exclaimed, If anyone is thirsty, do you come to me and drink?”(Jo 7:37).
Our Lord’s first invitation is in Matthew 11:28-30: “Come unto me all ye that are weary and overwhelmed, and I will make you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, that I am meek. and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. Why is my yoke easy and light my load?
His last invitation is in Revelation 22:17: “The Spirit and the Wife say, Come! The one who hears says: Come, the thirsty one, and the one who wants to receive free brandy!?
The expression: coming unto Christ is good, but it is surrounded by much ignorance and confusion, when it is part of the evil methods of evangelization What does this phrase mean for listeners?Of course, sinners need to come to Christ to be saved, but when a preacher calls sinners at the head of the church, while the congregation creates the atmosphere with a “calling hymn,” most listeners are likely to do so. consider “coming unto Christ” as equal, and “moving on. “
If asked about “getting ahead,” the preacher will say he doesn’t save. However, at the same time, by their language and methods, does he assimilate?, does he advance,” by “coming unto Christ”, and that is why many poor souls are deceived.
Coming unto Christ is a good expression, a biblical expression. It is used to describe an act of the soul. Coming unto Christ includes the abandonment of all self-righteousness and sin; It involves receiving the righteousness of Christ to be our righteousness and blood for our Atonement. Coming unto Christ includes repentance for God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Coming unto Christ is the first effect of regeneration.
When the preacher says, “Come unto Christ,” at the end of the service, it means that many must stand before the church. What do the children think when the preacher says, “Come unto Christ? And, at the same time, invites Every true preacher and evangelist knows that coming to the head of a church is not the same as coming unto Christ. Some may even say “moving on will not save you,” but they continue and “make the call,” as if listeners thought such a call is tantamount to coming unto Christ.
Some preachers make no sense in their supposed invitation, and the result is that many of our people, perhaps most, consider the physical act of advancing and coming unto Christ as equals. Again, I say that every true preacher is aware that there is not a single case in the Bible, not even a scripture line, that supports this misconception (matching, coming unto Christ, and moving forward, at the end of a Church service) Not only is it not in the Bible, but has never been practiced by the Lord or the Apostles. In fact, this was never practiced in the church until about 150 or 200 years ago. The famous revivalist Charles G. Finney introduced and popularized the use of the “decision room”. ‘bank of the anxious’. But he never considered “coming to the decision room” and “coming unto Christ. “
The call system
Why do I care so much about this problem? and being deceived about salvation is the worst mistake that can happen to a person. A lot of shepherds are wrong about it.
Two biblical texts are often used to support the appellate system, Mark 1. 17 and Matthew 10. 32-33. Note that I didn’t say invitation, appelo system.
Mark 1:17: “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men. ” The disciples released their nets and followed Jesus. He was physically there and they physically followed him.
Suppose he went to a beach full of fishermen today and said, “Come after Jesus, and he will make you fishermen of men. “No, that would be impossible, because Jesus is no longer physically here.
What does it mean to follow Jesus today? Following Jesus means learning from his teachings; living under the influence of these teachings, applying them to our daily lives.
In the days when Jesus was here, in the flesh, it was possible to follow Him physically, the fishermen followed Him literally. Zacchus came down from the tree, physically and literally, and followed Jesus. But even in the time of Jesus’ visible presence, the fundamental meaning of words?Come to me? It was clearly an identification of repentance and faith. Therefore, Mark 1. 17 is not an appropriate text to support a physical act or appeal system.
The second text used to support this system is Matthew 10:32-33: “Wherefore, he that confesses me before men, I too will confess it before my Father who is in heaven; But whoever renounces me before men, I too deny him before my Father, who is in heaven?
Let us take a closer look at what our Lord said: did he say that by the act of confession, or by a physical act, we become Christians? There should be no doubt about the answer. Confessing christ is a spiritual duty of Christians. Confessing doesn’t mean how to become a Christian.
In this passage, Jesus did not tell sinners how to make a decision, He did not describe how the new birth occurred; I taught that confessing is the spiritual duty of a Christian; confessing christ is a Christian duty. In that sense, the New Testament is quite clear, but I ask, how was it done? What was the public confession?
In the book of Acts (the sacred manual of evangelization), we find, in its purest form, examples of the apostles involved in evangelization. As you read the book of Acts, ask yourself, “How did people make this confession?”The clear and simple answer is baptism.
What it does not mean to come to Christ
Let us return to the question: what does it mean to come unto Christ? The best thing I can do with this question is to tell you first what it doesn’t mean to come unto Christ and then what it means to come unto Christ.
First, which doesn’t mean. Coming unto Christ is not an obvious physical act. Christ is not physically present here; therefore, no one can approach him in the physical sense. He’s not in front of the pulpit, floating like a ghost. No one can approach Christ using his feet.
Consider a very surprising verse, a verse that offends the natural and confusing spirit of many Christians.
“No one can come to me if it is not brought by the Father, who sent me, and I will resurrect you on the last day?”(Jo 6. 44).
Some describe coming unto Christ as the easiest thing in the world, and in a sense, is it true?If you come, you’ll be welcome. But this verse shows us that coming unto Christ voluntarily is impossible. Although this text is offensive to the carnal mind, we must remember that offending the carnal mind is almost always the first step in coming unto Christ in a saving relationship. lose his condition before having the desire to be saved.
Let’s go over a little lesson in good manners. An old friend used to teach his children to say, “Do you allow? If one of the kids said, “Can I go out and play?”He said, “I don’puedo. no know; He was obviously teaching his kids to say, “Will you let me go out and play?”
Note that the verse says, “No one can”; means none of us have the capacity. Someone can be allowed to do something, but on their own, they’re not capable. This text clearly teaches human incapacity; but, at the same time, he crystallinely teaches the Father’s gracious attraction. The text offers us a sweet comfort. We wait in the Father.
Where’s the human disability?
1. No has physical defects. This does not mean that man is unable to move his physical body, to walk alone. The sinner can faire. il walk to the front, in the church, because he has legs. If the question is to say a few words in a sentence you can also do that. A lot of un regenerated people pray. There is no lack of physical power to come unto Christ.
2. La disability is not in the mind, in the intellect. The unsasured is able to learn the Bible intellectually, as well as can learn math, history, physics, music, etc. Yes, you may believe that the Bible is true. There are many real books that have been written by irreversible people. Someone may create every statement of Christ, as anyone else might believe. We mustn’t tell men they can’t believe. That’s not true? They can believe every palabra. de the Bible and still be “lost like a pig on a feijoada day. “Disability is neither in intellect nor in the body.
So where’s the human disability? He is deeply rooted in the nature of man. Through the Fall and our own sin, the nature of man has become so perverted, depraved, and corrupt that it is impossible for man to come unto Christ without the mighty work of God, the Holy Spirit.
We see this in the animal world. Animals act according to their nature. Sheep don’t eat bleach, just like a pig doesn’t eat grass. There’s no physical problem? The reason sheep don’t eat bleach is because of their nature. The nature of man prevents him from coming unto Christ.
Give a mother a knife and say, ‘Put it on your baby. ‘If it’s normal, he’ll say, “I can’t do that, I can’t!”Does that mean you don’t have the physical strength or the ability to do it?Not at all! The mother’s nature makes it impossible.
Again, where is someone’s inability to come unto Christ? In the stubbornness of the human will, oh, yes, men can be saved if they wish, I believe that any sinner who is still out of hell can be saved, if he will, is that exactly the root of the problem? If you want.
B. B. Warfield said, “What’s the point of arguing about who you love in such a crowded world?Don’t I want to?” Are we preaching and testifying in a world of?I don’t want to??
The most pessimistic verse in the Bible is John 5. 40: “However, you do not want to come to me to have life. “For this reason, John 6. 44 is the most optimistic verse in the Bible. Did you know that this is one of the most beautiful verses of God’s Word? Was there this little word? in John 6. 44, everyone would go to hell, no one would be saved. Yes?!? If the Father?Thank God for what you’re doing. What I’m saying is that sinners need a new “necessity. “Where the new will is granted, desire and power are born accordingly.
The Father Brings Sinners to Christ
How does the Father bring sinners to Christ?Everyone will certainly agree that preaching the gospel is the instrument for bringing men, but preaching alone brings no one. Our Lord’s preaching alone did not bring sinners.
3. Coming unto Christ is not a mystical experience that is not based on truth, an experience separate from the truth of the scriptures.
4) Coming unto Christ is not simply an act of will and will, that is, an act of will, an act of choice. This certainly includes an exercise of will, but it is not like voting for someone, that is, “I vote for Jesus”, decided by Jesus”; tomorrow you can make a different decision.
Coming unto Christ is not physical or purely intellectual; Coming unto Christ is not mystical without foundation in Truth or simply voluntary.
“Great, my dear preacher; He did the right thing by telling us what it doesn’t mean to come unto Christ. But what does it mean to come unto Christ? This question will be answered in our next article.
