April 29th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day :?Are you my refuge on the day of evil?(Jeremiah 17. 17)

The way of the believer is not always as bright as sunlight; the believer has his dark and stormy opportunities. Is it true that it is written in the Word of God: “Your ways are delicious ways, and all your ways peace?”(Proverbs 3. 17). It is a great truth: trusting in God brings happiness on earth and blessing in heaven. Experience tells us that the way of justice is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until it is a perfect day (Proverbs 4. 18). Sometimes, however, this light is eclipsed. Sometimes the dark clouds cover the believer’s sun, making him walk in the dark and not see the light.

  • There are many believers who have rejoiced in the presence of God for some time.
  • They bask in the sun at the beginning of their Christian career.
  • They walked among the “green pastures”.
  • Next to the “still waters” (Psalms 23.
  • 2).
  • However.
  • They suddenly realize that the glorious sky is full of clouds.
  • Instead of the land of Goshen.
  • They have to walk through the sandy desert.
  • Instead of fresh water.
  • They find turbulent and bitter springs to their liking.
  • They say: “If we were children of God.
  • This would not happen.
  • ” Oh! Don’t say that.
  • You’re in darkness! God’s best saints must go through trials.
  • The most beloved of his children must carry the cross.
  • No believer has known perpetual prosperity.
  • No one can hang his harp on the willow tree (see Psalm 137.
  • 2).
  • Perhaps the Lord gave you.
  • At the beginning of your Christian life.
  • A calm and clear path.
  • Because you were weak and shy.
  • He softened the wind for his shorn sheep.
  • But now that you are stronger in your spiritual life.
  • You must go through the stark experience of growing up to the maturity of the Son of God.
  • We need winds and storms to exercise our faith.
  • To cut the rotten branch of self-confidence.
  • And to ground ourselves more firmly in Christ.
  • The bad day reveals to us the glorious value of our hope.
