Verse of the day: The Lord opens his eyes to the blind, the Lord lifts up the slit (Psalm 146. 8).
Am I downstairs? That is why I must insist on this word of grace before the Lord. Raising the dejected is his way of acting, his custom, his promise, his pleasure. Do I now be afflicted by a feeling of sin and consequent mental depression? The work of the Lord Jesus, in this case, has already been done and has provided what is necessary to stand up and rest. Lord, lift me up for your mercy!
- Have we experienced a loss that saddens us a lot or a major change in our situation? In this case the Comforter has also pledged to comfort us What a great mercy for us that a Person of the Holy Trinity has become our Comforter!of comfort will be well done.
- For a glorious Being has made it his special interest.
Some believers are so despondent that only Jesus can deliver them from their affliction. He can and will. The Lord Jesus can lift you up and bring you health, hope, and happiness. He did so often, as his people went through intense afflictions. Jesus remains the Savior Himself and will repeat his acts of great suffering. We who are now dejected and saddened will always be led to glory; and those who now despise us will be more ashamed. What an honor to be raised by the Lord! It is worth being humiliated so that we can experience its growing power.
