Kissing Jesus
Verse of the day: For it is God’s love: let us keep his commandments; But his commandments are not painful, for the born of God triumphs over the world; and it is victory that conquers the world: our faith. (1 John 5. 3-4)
- 18th-century pastor and theologian Jonathan Edwards analyzed this text and concluded: “Does saving faith involve?Does our love for God allow us to overcome the difficulties of keeping God’s commandments?What does it show that love is the principle of saving faith?her life and power.

I think Edwards is right and many of the Bible texts support what he says.
Another way of saying this is that faith in Christ not only agrees with what God is to us, but also encompasses all that He is to us in Christ. “True faith embraces Christ in whatever way the scriptures offer him to poor sinners. “Is this a kind of love for Christ? The boy who values you first and foremos say.
Therefore, there is no contradiction between 1 John 5. 3, on the one hand, which says that our love for God allows us to keep his commandments, and verse 4, which, on the other hand, says that our faith overcomes the world obstacles that prevent us from obeying God’s commandments. Love for God and Christ is implicit in faith.
Verse 5 defines the faith that obeys as one “who believes that Jesus is the Son of God”. Is it faith that Jesus Christ is like the glorious divine person he is?He does not simply agree with the truth that Jesus is the Son of God, because the demons agree with that (Matthew 8. 29). Believing that Jesus is the Son of God means?To embrace the meaning of this truth, that is to say to be satisfied with Christ as the Son of God and with all that God is to us in him.
“Son of God,” this means that Jesus is the greatest person in the universe, next to his Father, so everything he has taught is true, everything he has promised will stand firm and all his greatness that satisfies the soul will never change.
Therefore, believing that he is the Son of God involves trusting him and being satisfied with him.
