And the Spirit of God fluttered over the waters

Genesis 1

The earth, however, had no shape and was empty; there was darkness on the face of the abyss, and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.

Genesis 1: 1-2

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. However, the Earth had no shape and was empty; there was darkness on the face of the abyss, and he?The Spirit of God floated on the water.

The word? Ruah? It means wind or spirit. Some researchers believe this is simply a description of a powerful wind blowing over the surface of the water. But in fact, the rest of the Old Testament, with regard to this statement, always seems to assume that it is not a kind of naturally created wind blowing through creation, but the power of the person of God looming on the surface of the waters when the Earth was reporting and empty.

Why does Genesis 1. 2 speak of the Holy Ghost floating on the water?

You can use different verbs in your Christian life to describe the work of the Holy Spirit.

Without going into the details of Genesis 1, you will notice that there are two things the Spirit does.

The world has no shape and is empty. What the Spirit does, floating over the waters in this ministry, is to bring form and order from the deformation and amorphity of the originally created mass, and then bring fullness into the void of the original created mass.

The Scriptures teach this remarkable fact that when God created the cosmos from the beginning, it did not have the form and fullness that it would have during the days of creation.

It was the ministry of the Holy Ghost: to take shape and create form. Take the void and give fullness to this void. As you know, the rest of the first chapter of the book of Genesis describes how the form begins to occur. So, wonderfully. As the Spirit of God continues to use the articulation of God’s Word, that emptiness becomes increasingly filled with fulness.
