A treasure to remember

You certainly have a photo somewhere or maybe a small object that will remind you of good memories. It can be a photo with your friends on the last day of school, an old paper towel with the inscription “I love you” or a hair. curl from the first cut they made to their baby.

We have memories that can be accentuated or erased over time, good memories, those that do us good, we want to keep them alive to enjoy these tasty sensations, however, we have bad memories, bitters and acids that sometimes make us feel guilt or fear, or another feeling so unpleasant that we reject anything that can bring us the slightest memory.

  • The scriptures show us models for remembering what matters.
  • But they also tell us to despise what can distract us from God’s grace.

The Lord teaches us that at all times we must keep His Word in our hearts; it is the most important thing, it is our daily diet, which keeps us on the right track, that protects our affections and prevents our hearts from dry out.

These words I command you today will be in your heart; You will instill them in your children, and talk about them sitting at home, walking down the road, going to bed and getting up.

You will also tie them as a sign in your hand, and they will be for you between your eyes.

And you’ll write them on the doorsteps of your house and on your doorstep.

Be careful, let’s not forget the Lord, who took you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of servitude.

You will diligently keep the commandments of the Lord, your God, and the testimonies and statutes he has commanded you.

Deuteronomy 6. 6-9. 12. 17

What an insistence of our Lord! We need to learn from an early age, but at what point? In your daily life, while cooking or taking your children to school, at all times teach, rehearse, repeat, repeat from when you get up until bedtime. As? Diligently, pronounce the Word whenever you feel like it, but also when you are tired and reluctant. The Word of God will be visible to you and to everyone who looks at you, or your family or home. Letter Paul quoted in 2 Corinthians 3,2-3, in the heart of which the Word of God must be written. It’s simple! Pray and go, sheep, the Lord is faithful and with you, Will Make you prosper by memorizing these letters.

With a heart full of gratitude for who the Lord is and what He has done in our lives, our worship manifests itself. Worshipping God requires knowing who He is. Knowing requires coexistence, time; As we walk with the Lord, he impresses us with the experience of knowing who He is. In the great deliveries the Lord gave to his people, He commanded them to make a memorial that aroused curiosity. of the next generations to find out about the meaning of this milestone. You have to remember our Lord to be worshipped.

This day will be a reminder to you, and you will celebrate it as a solemnity to the Lord; in your generations you will celebrate it forever.

When your children ask you, what is this rite?

Thou will answer: It is the sacrifice of Easter to the Lord, who passed through the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he wounded the Egyptians and liberated our houses; that’s why people leaned over and loved her. Exodus 12. 14. 27- 28

The presence of the Lord among his people must be feared by the enemies, so the memorial of the great deeds that the Lord did for us was also ordained, after all, the Lord of armies is the one before us, fighting our struggles. .

And lift up each one stone, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, that this may be by sign among you; and when your children ask in the future, saying, What do these stones mean to you?

You will make your children known, saying: Israel has passed this Jordan dry, that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is strong, that every day they may fear the Lord your God. 6. 22-24

Remembering the great works of the Lord gives us life, but often our memory is not compassionate, but delicate, reminds us of things that overwhelm our affections and assault our confidence in future grace. Go ahead, sheep, our Lord is merciful and often asks. to look forward and leave behind what no longer serves us, is there, in future grace (as John Piper would say), where we must focus our gaze and let our hearts rest.

I want to remember what can give me hope

The Lord’s mercy is the cause of not being consummated, for his mercy is infinite; are renewed every morning. Great is your loyalty.

My part is the Lord, said my soul; Therefore, I will expect it; Good is the Lord for those who expect him, for the soul that seeks him; good is to quietly wait for the Lord’s salvation. Lamentations 3. 22-26

It is in Jesus Christ that we have our deep hope of continuing our journey, it is in him that we have renewed our strength and from him we receive enough grace not to die, in Christ we die and resurrect a new life.

But one thing I do: forget the things that are left behind and pass to those before me, step to the finish line, for the price of God’s sovereign vocation in Jesus Christ. Philippians 3: 13-14

Remember to forget those sins that, after repentance and confession, have already been forgiven because the Lord Himself has blotted them out and forgotten them:

I am the one who erased your transgressions for me and your sins, I do not remember them. Isaiah 43. 25

And finally, I would like to remind you that we must comfort ourselves with hope in our future home, in this place where we will have no bitter or bitter memories that cause us fear, sadness or guilt.

For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and there will be no memory of past things, there will never be a memory of them. Isaiah 65. 17

I would like to encourage you to create your own memorial, a set of little things that can contain anything from words, verses, and photos, to objects that remind us who the Lord is, what our Lord has done for you and for you. loved ones, great victories of past struggles that the Lord has won for you, and to put your thoughts where you must be up, where Christ lives sitting at the right hand of God.

Therefore, if he has risen with Christ, look for the things above, where Christ lives, sitting at the right hand of God; think about the things above, not the things here on earth.

Verse quoted in the text

You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men, already manifested as a letter from Christ, produced by our ministry, written not in ink, but by the Spirit of the living God, not on stone boards. , but on tables of flesh, i. e. in hearts. 2 Corinthians 3,2-3
