Photos, perfumes, songs energize memory in the sense of nostalgia, sometimes we remember sad things, such as leaving loved ones, but we remember remarkable things: the first kiss, marriage, the birth of children, overcoming obstacles, etc. the feelings and images that populate the soul can be summed up in one word, namely gratitude.
Psalm 124 is a song that chronicles past experiences such as engines of gratitude and hope. The Holy Spirit teaches us in this psalm to look at God’s works in history to find value in hajj. If you need motivation to continue, don’t waste your life. time, instead, move on to the metric of the Holy Ghost exposed in this psalm.
So let’s see what this psalm of gratitude teaches us
David recalls his past (1-5). His goal was to magnify the Lord, but he decided to express, with dramatic contours, the kind of affliction that inhabited his soul. He described a time:
David recounted this experience without pretending to glorify himself. He sang/told the past as an expression of deep gratitude to God. See how God’s saving presence stands out in his life, each time he repeats the following phrase: “Wasn’t it the Lord, who was by our side, Israel, to say it?”. God had already promised Jacob, “I am with you, and I will keep you wherever you go, and bring you back to this country, for I will not abandon you. you?” (Genesis 28,15). It was as if David said, “I am alive only by my God!
Brethren, what great comfort! In the world of violent men, in the hours of impetuous waters, we can count on divine help. It was the God of the Covenant who promised! We are only here to tell the story because the Lord was with us. Hallelujah! It is the Lord who supports pilgrims along the way.
In verses 6-7, David describes the miraculous deliverance God gave him. Did the Lord free you from the sharp teeth of men?The idea here is that these men were like beasts, predatory animals. David also celebrates broken traps and the air of freedom.
In all this, in the midst of the liberation of death, the salvation of life, the dismantling of the traps, David calls the people to “bless the Lord”. Without the strength to find a way out and a relief, from above, the Lord intervened and changed David’s fortune.
If we look at our past, we will find memories of a foeous climate. There was a time when we were trapped, lifeless, and tied to various plans of sabotage, but through Jesus Christ, God intervened in our history to lift us from spiritual death to eternal life (Ephesians 2-1-10). Isn’t that the most important reason why we should bless the Lord?In the face of so many blessings, the Christian has no right to be ungrateful.
Life in the sun is hard. Until the day of the restoration of all things, the human being will have to live with traps designed to trap the heart in the threads of anguish, sin and despair. The same is true for us, so was David and the pilgrims who sang Psalm 124. But where did they seek help?In fact, who was asked for help? David’s answer is in verse 8: “Our help is in the name of the Lord, Creator of heaven and earth. “Hallelujah!
The world is a difficult place. The scene is broken by sin. We need help, but help is not in the things of the world or in creatures. Good help in the calamitous hours of existence comes from the Creator and Redeemer. The Almighty God revealed in Escrituras. no is a motionless engine or a beautiful and perfect abstract being in Greek philosophy. The God who reveals himself is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is our help present in the hours of tribulation (Salt 46).
Tired? The pilgrimage is arduous and will come a lot of wear and tear, but we have a swarm of witnesses who have survived, not because of their ability to adapt, but because of their faith in the Lord. These people turned to God and received grace. These people prayed with gratitude, and the Spirit transformed their prayers into a powerful metric of gratitude and exhortation expressed in Psalm 124. That said, replace ingratitude with worship and make gratitude one of the driving forces behind your pilgrimage. In Christ he has already promised to be with us every day of our lives! He is our help and our strength! It is the Lord who sustains, guards, and guides pilgrims. Be grateful!
