Good exegesis will tell us that the wrong conclusions are not always the result of poor exegesis. It is valuable, important and even stimulating for us to have a good understanding of solid hermeneutic principles. We deviate easily and a healthy hermeneutic works like breadcrumbs that brings us back on the straight and narrow path.

- We read our Bibles with rose-colored lenses if we believe that all.
- Or at least most.
- Of our misinterpretations are caused by ignorance or lack of information.

- We are guilty of the modernist idea that education is always the cure for what afflicts us.

- In Romans 1 is very direct in pointing out our problems in our natural state.
That’s not what we don’t know. That’s not what we know is not the case. The problem is what we know and repress because of our sin. We know there is a God, we know that we are weak. We know we’re in trouble. And we know that we don’t like how we feel when we have problems, so we go back to the beginning and try to ignore that there is a God, is the source of bad theology our evil heart?And that’s why it’s better to consider our evil heart when we’re going to practice hermeneutics.
