What is explanatory preaching?
An explanatory sermon takes the main point of a scripture passage, makes it the main point of the sermon, and applies it to today’s life.
- According to the scriptures.
- God does what He wants to do through preaching (see Genesis 1:3.
- Isaiah 55:10-11.
- Acts 12:24).
- This means that if preachers want their sermons to be filled with God’s power.
- They must preach what God says.
The Bible has many examples of this kind of preaching and teaching: Leviticus priests taught the law (Dt 33:10), Ezra, and levites read the law and gave its meaning (Nehemiah 8:8), and Peter and the Apostles explained the scriptures and urged their listeners to respond with repentance and faith (Acts 2:14-41, 13: 16-47).
On the other hand, does God condemn those who speak of his own imagination and not of the mouth of the Lord?(Jer 23:16, 18, 21-22).
The preaching of the exhibit is important because the Word of God is what convicts, converts, edifies, and sanctifies God’s people (Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; John 17:17). preaching that makes the main point of the text the main point of the sermon makes God’s agenda rule the Church, not the preacher.
