When I enter a bookstore, I am crazy about all the reading possibilities offered by the full shelves, I go through different topics that interest me and the more I manipulate and read the covers and back cover, the longer my playlist is lengthened. And we still have eBooks, which move through virtual stores.
Sometimes I’m assailed by the idea that the more time I spend wandering around bookstores, the less time I have to read!
- Women often ask me how to choose a good Christian book.
- According to them.
- This book will help them fight to do it properly.
- These may include marriage.
- Adolescent malnutrition.
- Hard work.
- Or even women’s ministry problems.
- What are the possibilities.
- And then how to choose an uplifting reading?.
Well, I have some criteria for choosing a good reading. After choosing the theme, I look for the author’s name; if you are an author I already know, it is easier to know whether the book is reliable or not. However, if I am an unknown author, I am looking for information with friends who have good theology or who have already read something about this writer that they can refer to me.
Another criterion I usually use is the book editor, who usually maintains a theological or doctrinal line that I believe in and trust, these two aspects, author and editor, are usually the ones that weigh the most on my reading choice.
As for the format, I usually have study and research books (dictionaries, bible commentaries, reading aids) printed, because I like to make my notes on the margins and “talk” with the author leaving my impressions in writing. Also, I like to leave some post with the markup extracts I’m looking for. Printed books make it easier for me to understand, it must be because I was born before the digital age.
EBooks are easy to carry (in fact, I have a library!) And to read anywhere (because they have a built-in light on your Kindle or on your cell phone or tablet). I also like to be able to make the lyrics and spaces very comfortable for reading. In digital, it’s also easy to create taps and then use them with a quick search. If possible, I have both print and digital formats.
But if you prefer to venture into new ‘seas’, don’t hesitate, cheer up!And if that is your case, my recommendation is that you know the Word of God well or, in other words, always invest longer. read his Bible than any other book. Because if you know the Truth, you will easily identify the lie and will not be deceived or deceived by false teachers and winds of doctrine.
When he was working at a bank, the treasurer told us that there was a sure way to recognize a fake banknote; we need to know the true notes in every detail and thus the fake notes would be easily and quickly identified when we had counted on them. I think this learning is also used to choose good books.
Read the book. Writings are our priority. Every Christian must know the word of our Lord and meditate on it. You should not stop reading the Bible to read complementary books, even if they have excellent content. Continuing to read the scriptures is our main source of food, always.
