5 lies that sin tells me

Sin? set me up and killed me? (Romans 7. 11)

Sin seeks to deceive us with its lies and it is not only on April 1, here are 5 lies that it tells us:

LIE: It’s such an insignificant little sin! It’s really not a big problem in God’s eyes.

TRUTH: Every sin is a terrible offense to God; sin is the sum of all evils, the opposite of all good, holy, and beautiful; even the smallest of my sins demands the death of the Son of God; there is no sin. Every sin is a cosmic betrayal.

MENSONGE: I’m going to give in to sin this time, that’s all, I just need to get it out of my system.

TRUTH: Every time I fall into a sin, it becomes more difficult to break the power of that sin. Sin has a way of sinking its barbed hooks deep into my heart. I can’t just sin and then go unscathed. Giving in to sin, more tangled I turn. Sin always leaves scars.

LIE: This sin is part of who I am. I always fight and I’ll always sin like that.

TRUTH: Sin does not define my identity! I am a new creature in Christ. Christ has delivered me from the enslaving power of sin. I certainly do not have to obey the sinful passions that arise in me. I may have to fight forever, but my past doesn’t define my future.

MENSONGE: I need to fall into this sin to be happy

TRUTH: Sin never provides true happiness, promises meekness, but ultimately offers a burden of destruction, dissatisfaction, ruined relationships, and hardness of heart.

MENSONGE: God wants me to be happy, so it is normal to fall into sin.

TRUTH: God really wants me to be happy. However, my happiness will only grow at the height of my holiness. Sin erodes and ultimately destroys true holiness and true happiness.
