4 Tips to Complement Your Preaching

? Good work, great sermon, really spoken in my heart. The list of phrases a pastor can hear when church members leave the service is long. Inevitably, whether the sermon is good or not, these brief comments will be told to us with different levels of sincerity and it is important that we know how to respond in a way that honors God. Here are four suggestions:

It is sad when a pastor tries to use false humility to hide his insecurities or his inability to know how to receive a kind word. This usually appears in the pastor’s response after a kind and encouraging comment as follows: “Ah?I was wrong here, stumbled upon a few words?Stop and say, “Thank you for your kind words. “

  • Regardless of whether the comment was intended to encourage you.
  • Thank yourself for the words of encouragement.
  • Thank you.
  • Even if the comment was small.
  • Simple or even superficial.
  • Because someone took the time to share it with you.
  • Be grateful and recíbelo.
  • De this way.

What should make us humbler when a person devotes his time to encouraging us through our sermon is the fact that God chose a broken glass like us to feed God’s people with the Word of God week after week, Sunday after Sunday. word that addresses us. When we’re no longer surprised, we have to start worrying.

The great temptation to praise a sermon is to think that the fruit of our work is finally upon us and for us. When a kind word is said, make sure that God receives credit and praise, not superficially, but sincerely. We can respond by giving glory to God with our lips, but inside we are consumed by pride.

From these suggestions, here are some ways I think are appropriate to respond to a kind word that is said after a sermon:

?« Thank you for your kind words, isn’t God very kind in speaking to each of us through His Word?

?? Thank you for your encouragement. I am grateful to God for using His Word in this way.

? Thank you very much for taking the time to share how the Word of God has affected you. This passage touched me the same way. God is so merciful.

Pastors, receive the kind words that direct you, encourage yoursed words. This will help them overcome the discouragement that often occurs on Mondays. And stay humble, because in six days, you’ll have to start over.
